I built this mostly because in my past life, I saw how expensive cloud platforms like fly.io, Render, Heroku etc can be, relative to just paying for infrastructure. Managed kubernetes platforms these days are dirty cheap, so I figured something like Heroku could be built on top of Kubernetes. Turns out, Kubernetes is awesome. You can deploy tons of open source projects to it with one click, there's a ton of really good options for zero down time deployments, resource constraints, auto scaling, etc, and I tried to set sensible defaults in Canine. As an added benefit, you fully control the infrastructure you're on, so if you ever need to migrate off canine, you can continue to use the underlying Kubernetes cluster
